7/10 La Habra Exotic Pets (La Habra, CA)

Date & Time:  Wednesday, July 10 8:45 am to 9:45 am,

Age: All Ages, Limit: 20 persons,

Registration Fee: $11 per family

La Habra Exotic Pets is well known for its large collection of snakes, lizards, tarantulas, and amphibians.  Owner Chin Su is an expert in the care and breeding of these animals and is also a public school teacher.   If you are interested in getting one of these animals for a pet, Chin can answer all of your questions.


7/13 Point Fermin Tide Pools and Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

(San Pedro, CA)

Date & Time:  Saturday, July 13 10:45 am to 4:00 pm,

Age: 7 and up, Limit: 15 students and 10 adults,

Registration Fee: $11 per family, Tour Fee: $2 per person (including Adult)

Liz Chavez, YSC Aide, and marine educator and Daniel Ceja, veterinary tech.  Explore sea life at low tide and see all sorts of creatures face to face. Hold wild hermit crabs and even a wild California sea hare.   Bring lunch. After we will get a guided tour through the Cabrillo Aquarium by Liz and Daniel.


7/23 The Boring Company Tour (Hawthorne, CA)

Date & Time:  Tuesday, July 23 9:45 am to 11:00 am, Age: 10 and up

Maximum Number of Participants: 30 persons,

Registration Fee: $11 per Family

The Boring Company is an infrastructure and tunnel construction company founded by Elon Musk in 2016. Musk, the founder of Tesla, has cited difficulty with Los Angeles traffic and limitations with the current 2-D transportation network as inspiration for the tunneling company project. Participants will visit around the Boring Company site, see some photos of which are shown on the website. 

No Photo Allowed!! Cell Phones must be in pockets at all time.

7/26 Yakult Probiotics Factory Tour (Fountain Valley, CA)

Date & Time:  Friday, July 26  1:15 pm to 2:30 pm,

Age: 5 and up, Limit:  30 Persons,

Registration Fee: $11 per family

The Yakult staff will give a presentation about the company, products and the benefits of probiotics and show an educational video on the role L. casei strain Shirota plays in the maintenance of digestive system.  After the presentation, visitors will view the entire high-tech production process through the glass-walled viewing gallery.  The glass walls were specially constructed to provide clear viewing and prevent contamination so that visitors can view what goes into Yakult without having to watch their steps.

Do not take photos with cameras, cell phone or other devices unless you request and are given specific permission by your guide to do so.


 

CANCELED--7/27 Columbia Memorial Space Center (Downey, CA)

Date & Time:  Saturday, July 27 9:45 am to 12:00 am, Age: 2nd Grade and up

Maximum Number of Participants: 30 persons,

Registration Fee: $11 per Family, Admission Fee: $5 per person (including adult)

The 20,000 square foot Center opened in 2009 and is filled with many hands-on space and engineering displays, including an interactive piloting exhibit, shuttle docking exhibit and for those 7 years old and up, the LEGO robotics “Mission to Mars.”  Also on display are artifacts from the U.S. space program.


 

8/10 Young Eagles Program at Flabob Airport (Riverside,CA)

Date & Time:  Saturday, August 10  6:45 am to 11 am,

Age: 8 to 17 years old, Limit: 20 students,

Registration Fee: $11 per family, Flight fee: $10 per student

The Young Eagles program will give students a ground school introduction to flight, airport safety rules and lots more. A demonstration of a pre-flight safety inspection will be given and questions regarding the aircraft being inspected will be answered. Our students will board a dual-control aircraft and will take a flight around the Riverside area.  Also, our students will be allowed to take the controls of the aircraft under the supervision of an FAA-certified pilot.  Flabob opened in 1925 and is the seventh longest surviving airport in California. It has a 3,200-foot runway.
